Educational Adoption Scheme (EAS):
The word
Adoption means to us developing the all round
personalities of the students under MESCO's care.
This scheme was started with a view to providing
children with stationery, fees, uniforms besides
the textbooks. Ultimately it was decided that only
students from poor families who score 70% marks
and above at the annual examination at any level
beyond Std. VII would be inducted. For continuing
on this scheme the child has to show
consistent good academic performance. The students
are selected on the basis of home visits,
interviews with students and parents. Personal
data is updated annually. This scheme has been in
existence for the last 31 years. Last year we had
257 students on the roll, the average cost of a
student works to Rs. 10,000/- per year for an
academic year. Details of ex-EAS students over the

MESCO assisted students, have the
stamp of service before self and are today employed with
Corporate houses and MNC's such as, Mahindra & Mahindra,
Jet Airways, Kotak Mahindra,, Infosys,Wipro,Birla, Larsen & Toubro, IDBI,
ICICI, Infotech, Rolta India Ltd., Mukund Iron & Steel
Co., ITC Hotels, Medley Pharmaceuticals, Bisrla Sunlife,
Hindustan Petroleum, Hindustan Lever Ltd., Ichiban
Honda, Tiffany Foods Ltd., Shipping Corporation of
India, Schlumberger, Western Railways etc
The EAS students are encouraged to
participate in the Khal Collection during Bakri Idd and
other fund raising programmes, getting advertisements
for the souvenirs, collecting old newspapers, collection
of zakat. They also help in old clothes distribution. A
healthy and friendly rapport prevails between the
students and staff members of MESCO. A close touch is
kept with Ex. EAS students to maintain a family feeling.
Educational Aid for the students above & below S.S.C.:
It is a one time aid given to financially backward
students, but who do not have the very high academic
performance to qualify for the Educational Adoption
Scheme (given above). In the year 2005-2006, 1040
students at school and 378 at post school level were
helped through this scheme.
High
Cost Education Loan Scholarship (HCELS):
HCELS provides interest free loan scholarship to
the eligible, financially deserving and meritorious
students, who are doing professional courses.
Loans are granted upto a
maximum of 90% of the total educational cost depending
on the financial status of the students family. The loan
takes into account the fees and
other relevant Educational expenses, hostel fees etc.
Due to its easy repayment installments by now just in its
seventh year of operation, the (HCELS)
High Cost Education Loan Scheme has ploughed back Rs.
4,01,310/- into the scheme. Over these six years it has
produced 46 Doctors, 70 Engineers, 56 Professionals
(Chartered Accountant, MSW, MBA and Hotel Management
professionals).
Funding:
For these Education Schemes MESCO has received funding
from Charities locally and overseas such as - Rotary
Club of Bombay Mid Town, Rogay Charities, Aishabai
Trust, Allana Trust, Valibhoy Foundation (Singapore),
FLAME & Muslim Aid (UK), IMRC and AFMI (US) and
many individual donors.
